First-hand experience
Real meals, training, tracking, and progress are documented rather than presented as theory alone.
A free calculator and growing library of evidence-informed guides for people who want a clearer protein target—and a more realistic way to act on it.
I’m Vishal Pradhan, the founder and publisher of The Protein Calculator. Like many people with a full-time desk job, I found that knowing protein matters was the easy part. The difficult part was working out a realistic target, building meals around it, training consistently, and tracking progress long enough to see a change.
I created this website to make that first step clearer. The calculator gives generally healthy adults an evidence-informed starting range, while the guides turn that number into practical food and habit decisions.
I am also documenting my own fitness journey openly—the workouts, meals, setbacks, and progress—so the website is connected to a real person doing the work, not an anonymous content operation.

Protein ranges and educational claims are tied to recognized guidance and cited research.
Personal experience is never presented as medical advice or a guaranteed result for someone else.
Many protein calculators produce a single number without explaining where it came from or how to use it. At the other extreme, nutrition advice can become so technical and conflicting that beginners do not know where to start.
The Protein Calculator was created to sit between those two problems: simple enough to use in under a minute, transparent enough to explain the methodology, and practical enough to support better everyday decisions.
Our long-term goal is to help people move from calculating a target to building consistency through useful guides, realistic examples, and tracking tools.
Every part of the site should help a reader understand what they are seeing, where it came from, and how to use it safely.
We publish the ranges, inputs, limitations, and research behind the calculator.
Guides translate nutrition information into straightforward food and habit choices.
The calculator, planner concepts, and website experience are improved through real use and feedback.
Pages are reviewed as research, recommendations, and the product itself change.
Instagram is where I document the practical side: training around a full-time job, building protein-focused meals, testing systems, and showing progress honestly.
